Speaker Bio:

Evandro Valente is a Co-Founder and CTO of Airgility Inc. He is responsible for the day-to-day activities related to internal research and development (IRAD), IP expansion of Airgility’s patent-pending aerial platforms, and supports business opportunities in direct contact with existing and pipelined customers. He oversees advancing the edge-implemented artificial intelligence portfolio running on-board Airgility’s aerial robots and supporting ground systems.

As the lead author for SBIR applications, he is the Principal Investigator of a National Science Foundation Phase I SBIR award entitled “Intelligent Cloud-based Advanced Manufacturing Services”. He is also the Principal Investigator for other current and prior grant-based programs awarded to Airgility from Mtech’s Maryland Industrial Partnerships (MIPS) and TEDCO’s Maryland Innovation Initiatives (MII Phases I, II, and III).

Evandro is also the lead author and lead inventor for Airgility’s pending patents.

He actively seeks strategic partnerships and the opportunity to onboard technologies into Airgility’s artificial intelligence-powered all-3D printed drones. Evandro has a primary focus on product creation for first response and air-to-air counter-drone missions.

Evandro drives company prioritization towards scalability, modularity, mission adaptability, and multi-domain use of all products while further implementing companion computing board for higher-level algorithm execution to enhance vehicle functionality, automation, and pin-point information collection using onboard ML.

Evandro has a B.S. ’03 and M.S. ’06 in Aerospace Engineering from the Department of Aerospace at the University of Maryland in College Park. He has spent 13 years teaching at UMCP before going full-time with Airgility Inc. in January of 2019. Airgility is founded and owned by UMCP alumni and is a startup venture located at the Discovery District at the University of Maryland in College Park.
