Maryland Small Business Development Center Offers No-Cost Training to Veterans

As part of its ongoing commitment to assist those who have proudly served our country, the Maryland Small Business Development Center (SBDC) Network is waiving all training costs for veterans through 2022.

"Veterans and their families have sacrificed so much to make the American dream available to others," says Paul Bardack, SBDC executive director. "It's time for the SBDC to redouble our efforts to make the American dream available to them too."

In FY21, the Maryland SBDC Network provided business consulting and technical assistance to 681veteran clients. They also assisted Maryland veterans in securing more than 3 million dollars in loans or equity financing to start or grow their businesses.

The Maryland SBDC is proud to be part of a national network that serves those who served our country. And we are especially proud of the many SBDC clients and business advisers who are veterans of our country’s Armed Forces.

Veteran-owned businesses are a crucial part of our nation’s economy: 99.9 percent of all veteran-owned businesses are small businesses; they employ more than five million people, and they account for annual payrolls of $195 billion. America’s SBDCs provide free business consulting and at-cost training to thousands of veterans and members of our nation’s Armed Forces who are transitioning out of military service each year.

Interested veterans should visit the SBDC training calendar to select a class, then email Dianne McFarland, training coordinator, to receive a fee waiver.
